Welcome to contra dancing and to Harvest Moon Folk Society, an organization whose mission is to promote, sponsor, and encourage participation in folk and traditional dance for people in and around the Upstate of South Carolina. We have 2 regular dances a month at River Falls Lodge above Marietta, SC, in northern Greenville County. The first dance is usually on the first Saturday of the month. The date varies for our second Saturday dance. There is a potluck at 6:30, a basic contra dance class at 7:30 and dancing from 8 to 11. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Camping space is available for out-of-town dancers spending the night. In addition to our regular dances, we have two special dances: a MoonDance weekend festival in September at Table Rock State Park and a Monster Mash dance in the fall at River Falls Lodge. All dances sponsored by Harvest Moon Folk Society are held in an alcohol- and drug-free environment. Smoking is not allowed in the building.
